Distraction Thefts

Good evening Kings Cross,

An update regarding the distraction thefts in and around Kings Cross and St Pancras Stations. (please see below message for context)

Your local policing team- Kings Cross SNT, the Local Town Centre team and British Transport Police have been working hard to combat the ongoing issue of distraction thefts involving luggage and personal items. There have been numerous arrests, stops/searches and intelligence collated in past few months. This has consequently lead to a large drop of offences in the area with some positive results. 

Please continue to be vigilant and keep luggage and personal items close to your person.

"We know there are a number of people who have been the victims of distraction thefts in and around King’s Cross and St Pancras Stations. Criminals attempt to distract members of the public coming in and out of the station and those booking their rides back home, in order to steal baggage or personal items. 

Our officers are working hard alongside officers from British Transport Police to bring those responsible to justice. While we investigate this, our officers are out and about conducting high visibility patrols to deter criminals and raise awareness. 

Please be aware of your surroundings and do not leave your luggage unattended while you are travelling.
